In 1840 colonial emigrates had special factors that needed to be met, many people altering birth dates to make themselves suitable. Francis Gilroy was really aged 26 when he emigrated in 1840, his age on shipping records is 23. Francis's wife, Anne Kairns, was really aged 16, her shipping age states her as being 19.
